As is per the norm, Australians are in high danger of being screwed simply by being in Australia.
I am a huge fan of Valve's Steam platform. Huge enough fan to make an android app to track their sales from my phone.
But.
Call me niggardly if you want but $89.99 is far too much to pay for a digital download of any game. So off I embark again through the hazardous limbs of the Internet to find the best deal available to me here in central NSW Australia.
Digital Distribution:
Direct2Drive: $53.95 US (Not available to Aus by default)
Physical Copy:
Amazon has the collectors edition which includes a statue, a coffee table art book and a bonus making of DVD for a massive $149.95.
More reasonably, the standard edition is $59.54.
ozgameshop.com.au: $44.99 with bonus cloth map
thehut.com: $45.60 AUD
cdwow.com.au: $52.95
dungeoncrawl.com.au: $59.90
thehut.com: $45.60 AUD
cdwow.com.au: $52.95
dungeoncrawl.com.au: $59.90
Harvey Norman: $77 with bonus map
Conclusion
If you simply cannot wait for anything but a day one release, it looks like Harvey Norman or Steam are your best bet.
If you can wait a few days, dungeoncrawl is based in Melbourne and has delivery times of 2 -7 days.
ozgameshop was the cheapest I could find, but like cdwow and thehut it is based in the UK and can take anywhere from 4 to 14 days delivery time.
Personally I went with ozgameshop again. I love the excitement of getting out of bed every morning and running out to check the mail box. Also, I am a tight arse.
And being a tight arse, I think I will be skipping the strategy guide. This time it actually costs more than the cheapest game.
If you find a better deal let me know, leave a comment.
